1 Chronicles 9:1

1 CHRONICLES 9

1 So all Israel was registered by genealogies, and these were written

in the book of the kings of Israel. And Judah was led into exile

to Babylon for their unfaithfulness.

[1] So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they were

written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were carried away

to Babylon for their transgression.

2 (Ne 7:73; Ezr 2:43; 2:58) Now the first ones to dwell in their possessions

in their cities were children of Israel, priests, Levites, and temple servants.

[2] Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their

cities were, the Israelites, the priests, Levites, and the Nethinims.

A Post-Exilic Genealogy

Ne 11:3-19

3 (Ne 11:1) Some of the sons of Judah dwelt in Jerusalem alongside

some of the sons of Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh:

4 (Ge 46:12; Nu 26:20) Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri,

the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the sons of Perez the son of Judah;

5 of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons;

6of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brothers, six hundred and ninety.

7 Those of the sons of Benjamin were

Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;

8 Ibneiah the son of Jeroham; Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Mikri;

Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;

9 and their brothers according to their generations, 956.

All these men were heads of families according to their fathers' houses.

10 Those of the priests were Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jakin;

11 (Ne 11:11) Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam,

the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub,

the head official of the house of God;

12 Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah;

Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam,

the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;

13 and their brothers, heads of the houses of their fathers, 1760

very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

14 Those of the Levites were Shemaiah the son of Hasshub,

the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

15 (Ne 11:22) Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mika,

the son of Zikri, the son of Asaph;

16 Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun;

Berekiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah,

who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

17 Now the gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman,

and their brothers (Shallum was the head officer

18 (Eze 46:1-2) who until then had served at the king's eastern gate).

They were the gatekeepers for the camps of the Levites.

19 Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

and his brothers from his father's house, the Korahites,

were over the work of the service, gatekeepers of the tabernacle.

Their fathers had been over the camp of the Lord, guards at the entrance.

20 Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the official over them in previous times,

and the Lord was with him.

21 (1Ch 26:14; 26:2) Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper

at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

22 (1Sa 9:9) All those chosen as gatekeepers were two hundred and twelve.

They were registered by their genealogy in their villages. Now David

and Samuel the seer established them in their trusted offices.

23 So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house

of the Lord, that is, the house of the tabernacle, as guards.

24 The gatekeepers were on four sides: east, west, north, and south.

25 (2Ki 11:5; 2Ch 23:8) Their brothers in their villages were to come

for seven days from time to time to serve with them.

26 For in their trusted offices the four main gatekeepers who were

Levites had charge over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.

27 They spent the night around the house of God, for the watch

was entrusted to them, and they were responsible for opening it every morning.

28 Some of them were in charge of the vessels of service, that they should

bring them in and out by number.

29 (1Ch 23:29) Some others were appointed over the furnishings

and all the implements of the sanctuary as well as the fine flour, the wine,

the oil, the frankincense, and the spices.

30 (Ex 30:23-25) And some of the sons of the priests mixed the ointment

of the spices.

31 (1Ch 9:19; 9:22) Mattithiah, one of the Levites (he was the firstborn of

Shallum the Korahite), was entrusted with making the flat cakes.

32 (Lev 24:5-8) Others of the sons of the Kohathites and from their brothers

were given charge over the showbread to prepare it every Sabbath.

33 (1Ch 6:31-33; 25:1-31) Now these are the singers, heads of the fathers'

houses of the Levites, who stayed in the temple chambers, free from

other service, because they were occupied with the work day and night.

34 These were the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites according

to their generations, leaders, who dwelt in Jerusalem.

[3] And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Judah, and of the children of

Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim, and Manasseh;

[4] Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of

Bani, of the children of Pharez the son of Judah.

[5] And of the Shilonites; Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons.

[6] And of the sons of Zerah; Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and

ninety.

[7] And of the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of

Hodaviah, the son of Hasenuah,

[8] And Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of

Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephathiah, the son of Reuel, the son of

Ibnijah;

[9] And their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and

fifty and six. All these men were chief of the fathers in the house of their

fathers.

[10] And of the priests; Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, and Jachin,

[11] And Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok,

the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God;

[12] And Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashur, the son of

Malchijah,

and Maasiai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam,

the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;

[13] And their brethren, heads of the house of their fathers, a thousand and

seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of

the house of God.

[14] And of the Levites; Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam,

the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

[15] And Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Micah, the

son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;

[16] And Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun,

and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages

of the Netophathites.

[17] And the porters were, Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and

their brethren: Shallum was the chief;

[18] Who hitherto waited in the king's gate eastward: they were porters in

the companies of the children of Levi.

[19] And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and

his brethren, of the house of his father, the Korahites, were over the work

of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their fathers,

being over the host of the LORD, were keepers of the entry.

[20] And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past,

and the Lord was with him.

[21] And Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the

tabernacle of the congregation.

[22] All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred

and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom

David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office.

[23] So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house

of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.

[24] In four quarters were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and

south.

[25] And their brethren, which were in their villages, were to come after

seven days from time to time with them.

[26] For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office,

and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.

[27] And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was

upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.

[28] And certain of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that

they should bring them in and out by tale.

[29] Some of them also were appointed to oversee the vessels, and all the

instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil,

and the frankincense, and the spices.

[30] And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.

[31] And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum

the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were made in the

pans.

[32] And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over

the shewbread, to prepare it every sabbath.

[33] And these are the singers, chief of the fathers of the Levites, who

remaining in the chambers were free: for they were employed in that work

day and night.

[34] These chief fathers of the Levites were chief throughout their

generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.

41 (1Ch 8:35) The sons of Micah were Pithon, Melek, Tahrea, and Ahaz.

42 (1Ch 8:36) Ahaz became the father of Jarah,

and Jarah the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri.

Zimri became the father of Moza,

43 (1Ch 8:37) and Moza became the father of Binea, Rephaiah his son,

Eleasah his son, and Azel his son.

44 Azel had six sons, and these were their names:

Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.

These were the sons of Azel.

[41] And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz.

[42] And Ahaz begat Jarah; and Jarah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri;

and Zimri begat Moza;

[43] And Moza begat Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his

son.

[44] And Azel had six sons, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru, and

Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.

1 CHRONICLES 10

The Death of Saul

1Sa 31:1-13; 2Sa 1:4-12

1 (1Sa 31:1-13; 1Ch 10:8) Now when the Philistines fought against Israel,

every Israelite fighter fled before the Philistines, and the slain fell

on Mount Gilboa.

2 But the Philistines pursued Saul and his sons and struck down Saul's sons

Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

3 As the battle with Saul became heavy, the archers' bows found their target

and mortally wounded him.

4 (1Sa 31:4) So Saul said to his armor bearer, "Draw your sword and pierce me

through lest these uncircumcised Philistines come and make a fool of me."

But his armor bearer was unwilling to do it because he was overwhelmed

with fear, so Saul took the sword and fell on it himself.

5 When the armor bearer saw that Saul was dead,

he too fell on his sword and died.

6 Thus, Saul and his three sons, namely all his house, died together.

7 Now when all the children of Israel in the valley saw that they had fled

the battlefield, and Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities

and escaped, leaving the Philistines to come and dwell in them.

8 The next day, when the Philistines came to pillage the slain,

they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

9 So they stripped Saul, removed his head and his armor,

and circulated the news of his demise throughout the land of the Philistines

to their idols as well as the people.

10 Then they placed his armor in the temple of their gods, while his head

they impaled in the house of Dagon.

11 Now all Jabesh Gilead heard about everything the Philistines did to Saul,

12 so their valiant men rose up and carried the body of Saul and the bodies

of his sons to Jabesh. They buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh

and fasted, mourning seven days.

13 (Lev 19:31; 20:6) So Saul died because of his unfaithful

deeds against the Lord,

because of his failure to keep the word of the Lord, and because he sought

to consult a spirit of divination

14 (1Sa 15:28; 13:14) but did not seek the Lord. So He killed him and turned

the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.

[1] Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled

from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

[2] And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and

the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, the sons of

Saul.

[3] And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he

was wounded of the archers.

[4] Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me

through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his

armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and

fell upon it.

[5] And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on

the sword, and died.

[6] So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

[7] And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they

fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities,

and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

[8] And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip

the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

[9] And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and

sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto

their idols, and to the people.

[10] And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his

head in the temple of Dagon.

[11] And when all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to

Saul,

[12] They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and

the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones

under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

[13] So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the

LORD,

even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking

counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it;

[14] And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the

kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

Watering The Weeds

Matthew 13:3-8,18-23

3 (Mt 13:10-13; 13:34-35) Then He told them many things in parables, saying,

"Listen! A sower went out to sow.

4 While he sowed, some seeds fell beside the path, and the birds came

and devoured them.

5 But other seeds fell on rocky ground where they did not have much soil,

and immediately they sprang up because they did not have deep soil.

6 But when the sun rose, they were scorched. And because they did not take

root, they withered away.

7 Some seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

8 (Ge 26:12; Mt 13:23) But other seeds fell into good ground and produced

grain: a hundred, sixty, or thirty times as much.

9 (Mt 11:15; Rev 2:7) Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear."

[3] And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower

went forth to sow;

[4] And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came

and devoured them up:

[5] Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and

forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

[6] And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no

root, they withered away.

[7] And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

[8] But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an

hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

18 "Therefore listen to the parable of the sower.

19 (Mt 4:23; 13:38) When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not

understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown

in his heart. This is the one who received seed beside the path.

20 (Isa 58:2; Eze 33:31-32) But he who received the seed on rocky ground

is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,

21 (Mt 11:6; Hos 6:4) yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while.

For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word,

eventually he falls away.

22 (1Ti 6:9-10; 6:17) He also who received seed among the thorns is

he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness

of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

23 (Mt 13:8; Jn 15:16; Php 1:11) But he who received seed on the good ground

is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit.

Some produce a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown."

[18] Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

[19] When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not,

then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his

heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

[20] But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that

heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

[21] Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when

tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is

offended.

[22] He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the

word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the

word, and he becometh unfruitful.

[23] But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the

word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth,

some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

After burying a few seeds in a planter in my backyard, I waited to see

the results. Reading that the seeds would sprout within ten to fourteen

days, I checked often as I watered the soil. Soon I saw a few green leaves

pushing their way out of the soil. But my bubble burst quickly

when my husband told me those were weeds. He encouraged me to pull them

quickly so that they wouldn't choke the plants I was trying to grow.

Jesus also told of the importance of dealing with intruders that can impede

our spiritual growth. He explained a portion of His parable this way:

when a sower cast his seeds, some

"And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them"

(Matthew 13:7). Thorns, or weeds, will do just that to plants-stop

their growth (v. 22). And worry will surely stunt our spiritual growth.

Reading Scripture and praying are great ways to grow our faith,

but I've found I need to watch out for the thorns of worry.

They'll "choke" the good word that has been planted in me,

making me focus on what could go wrong.

The fruit of the Spirit, found in Scripture, includes such things

as love, joy, peace (Galatians 5:22). But in order for us to bear

that fruit, in God's strength we need to pull any weeds of doubt

or worry that may distract us and cause us to focus on anything

other than Him.

By: Katara Patton

Reflect & Pray

How is God helping you grow the seeds He's planted within you?

How can you pull the weeds of worry?

Dear heavenly Father, please remind me

to pull weeds often, discarding worry

and deceitful thoughts so I may grow and bear fruit in You.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 7 - Upheld by His Hand

Is 41:10

10 (Jos 1:9; Isa 41:13-14) Do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you,

yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;

yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Beth had the same recurring nightmare: she was running along a cliff,

then she slipped, and fell headlong, into a bottomless ravine.

Falling, without control, without end, falling, falling, falling...

Beth's dream may be one many of us identify with. The sense

of losing control can be nightmarish, and we may fear falling

without end, without remedy. Financial failure may be the chasm

that we face, or professional disgrace. Personal relationships

may go out of control, and we look into a never-ending

ravine of pain and misunderstanding

But God says, "Don't be afraid; I am holding you up."

Like the father who helps his child learn to swim,

God holds us above the water. We may not feel his hands;

indeed, we may suspect that he lets us go just so we can

do it on our own. But he promises that he doesn't let go.

"I am with you." he declares. "I give you strength

and hold you up."

God's promise never to let go takes on new meaning

in a world where relationships are temporary and life is

uncertain. We do not need to fear, for he is with us.

We can relax and stop striving, for he is our God.

His strength becomes ours; amid all our sin and rebellion,

he undergirds us with his righteousness. We cannot fall,

for he holds us firm.

Application

a) Under what circumstances have I felt myself "falling"?

b) How does God's promise in Is 41:10 help me to have faith

I will not abandon you. I will not leave you.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before

Warning Against Idolatry

1 (Ex 14:29; Ps 66:6) I would not want you to be unaware that

all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 (Ex 16:35; Dt 8:3) all ate the same spiritual food;

4 (Ex 17:6; Nu 20:11) and all drank the same spiritual drink,

for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them,

and that Rock was Christ.

5 (Heb 3:17; Jude 1:5) But with many of them God was not well pleased,

and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 (Nu 11:4; 1Co 10:11) Now these things were our examples to the intent

that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

7 (Ex 32:19; 32:4) Neither be idolaters as were some of them.

As it is written,

"The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to revel." (Ex 32:6. )

8 (Nu 25:1-9; 1Co 6:18) Neither let us commit sexual immorality as some

of them committed, when 23000 fell in one day.

9 (Nu 21:5-6; Ex 17:2) Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them

also tempted and were destroyed by serpents.

10 (Ex 12:23; Nu 16:41) Neither murmur, as some of them also murmured

and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 (Ro 13:11) Now all these things happened to them for examples.

They are written as an admonition to us,

upon whom the end of the ages has come.

12 (Ro 11:20) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed,

lest he fall.

13 (1Co 1:9; 2Pe 2:9) No temptation has taken you except what is common

to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above

what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way

to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all

our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 and were all baptised unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 and did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that

spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased:

for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust

after evil things, as they also lusted.

7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written,

The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed,

and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted,

and were destroyed of serpents.

10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured,

and were destroyed of the destroyer.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples:

and they are written for our admonition,

upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:

but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted

above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also

make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Manitoba

Quick facts on Muslims in Manitoba

Manitoba 2015 population 1 282 000

est Muslim Population 21 349

CNMM Networks: Winnipeg

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very

diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting

it might be twice that size.

Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size

of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.

Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth

of this Muslim centre in Manitoba.

We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers

among Muslims in Winnipeg.

Let us intercede in unity for:

- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population

- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim

communities around them, as well as training new workers

- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipling new Muslim

background believers and for effectiveness in outreach

- for the recent Somali woman who found faith in Jesus and stood her ground

in the face of opposition to her new faith.

- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged

with great support

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Doctor Who: The Myth Makers - A Mixed Mythical Adventure

"The Myth Makers" is a 1965 historical serial from Doctor

Who's classic era, part of the First Doctor's adventures.

Here's a breakdown to help you decide if you'd like to

embark on this journey through Trojan War myths:

Story

The TARDIS materializes in ancient Greece during the Trojan War.

The Doctor, Vicki, Steven, and Barbara find themselves caught

between the Greeks and the Trojans. The Doctor discovers

the Trojan War might be a fabricated story perpetuated

by the manipulative Medusa, a creature from another

world who feeds on human conflict. The companions

get embroiled in the legendary events as the

Doctor tries to expose the truth and prevent

further bloodshed.

Review

Strengths

Unique Blend of History and Myth: The story weaves

together elements of Greek mythology (Trojan War, Medusa)

with historical fiction (Trojan conflict), creating

an intriguing backdrop.

Focus on Companions: The companions play active roles

in the narrative, with Barbara's knowledge of history

proving valuable.

Humorous Elements: The serial has lighter moments

with the Doctor and companions adjusting to ancient

Greece, providing a balance to the historical drama.

Weaknesses

Missing Episodes: Unfortunately, episodes 2 and 3

exist only as photo reconstructions, which can

disrupt the narrative flow for modern viewers.

Limited Historical Accuracy: While inspired

by mythology, the depiction of the Trojan War

might not be entirely historically accurate.

Slow Pacing in Parts (Reconstructions):

The reconstructed sections might feel

slow at times, especially during exposition

scenes explaining the mythology and historical context.

Reception:

Positive: Praised for its unique blend of history

and myth, focus on the companions' roles,

and lighter humorous moments. Some fans also

enjoy the concept of the Doctor unraveling

a fabricated mythology.

Negative: Criticised for its missing episodes

that disrupt the narrative, limited historical

accuracy, and slow pacing in certain sections,

especially when relying on reconstructions.

Overall Thoughts:

"The Myth Makers" is an interesting experiment

in merging mythology and historical fiction

in Doctor Who. While the missing episodes

and looser approach to history might be

drawbacks, it offers a thought-provoking

exploration of warfare and the power of stories.

Would I recommend watching it?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 6/10

(Especially those interested in historical settings

with a mythological twist

and enjoy seeing the companions in action)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 4/10

If you're a die-hard fan of classic Doctor Who

and are willing to overlook the limitations

of lost episodes and reconstructions,

"The Myth Makers" might be worth checking out.

However, if you prefer fast-paced adventures

with complete narratives and strict historical

accuracy, you might find it slow and less engaging.

Additional Points to Consider:

This serial is significant for being the First Doctor's

first historical adventure, paving the way

for future historical stories in the show.

ChatGPT reviews Doctor Who - Spearhead from Space

Episode 1: The newly regenerated Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee,

is exiled to Earth where he lands in a rural area. The episode

effectively introduces the new Doctor and sets up his dynamic

Overall, "Spearhead from Space" is a fantastic Doctor Who serial

that effectively reintroduces the show with a new Doctor

and a fresh direction. Jon Pertwee's portrayal of the Doctor

is charismatic and dynamic, and the story benefits

from strong performances, well-executed action sequences,

and a sense of urgency. The introduction of the Autons

as formidable villains adds to the excitement,

making this serial a standout in the show's history.

Day 117 of My 4th Bible Study Journey - 26 April 2024 reflections

Day 117, 26 April 2024

1) Psalms 81,88,92,93

PSALMS 81

For the Music Director. According to The Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength;

make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Lift up a melody, and sound the tambourine,

the pleasant lyre with the harp.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Blow the trumpet at the New Moon,

at the full moon on our feast day.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) For this is a statute for Israel,

a decree of the God of Jacob.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) This He ordained in Joseph as a decree

when He went out against the land of Egypt.

I heard a voice that I had not known:

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) "I removed his shoulder from the burden;

his hands were released from holding the basket.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) You called in trouble, and I delivered you;

I answered you in the secret place of thunder;

I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Hear, O My people, and I will testify against you.

O Israel, if you would listen to me!

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) There shall be no strange god among you;

neither shall you bow down to any strange god.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) I am the Lord your God,

who brought you out of the land of Egypt;

open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) "But My people would not listen to My voice;

Israel would not submit to Me.

12 So I gave them up to their stubborn hearts,

to walk in their own counsels.

13 "Oh, that My people would listen to Me,

and Israel would follow in My ways!

14 I would soon subdue their enemies,

and turn My hand against their adversaries.

15 Let those who hate the Lord cower before Him

and their fate might last forever.

16 But I would feed them with the finest of wheat,

and with honey out of the rock I would satisfy you."

Psalm 81

[1] Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of

Jacob.

[2] Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the

psaltery.

[3] Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our

solemn feast day.

[4] For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

[5] This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the

land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

[6] I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from

the pots.

[7] Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the

secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

[8] Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt

hearken unto me;

[9] There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any

strange god.

[10] I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:

open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

[11] But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of

me.

[12] So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their

own counsels.

[13] Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my

ways!

[14] I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against

their adversaries.

[15] The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but

their time should have endured for ever.

[16] He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with

honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

PSALMS 88

For the Music Director. A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. To the melody

of "Suffering of Affliction." A Contemplative Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite.

1 O Lord, God of my salvation,

I cry out day and night before You.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Let my prayer come before You;

incline Your ear to my cry.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I am counted with those who go down to the grave;

I am a man who has no strength,

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) like one who is set free among the dead,

like the slain who lie in the grave,

like those whom You remember no more,

for they are cut off from Your hand.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) You have laid me in the depths of the pit,

in dark and deep regions.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Your wrath lies heavy upon me,

and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) You have caused my companions to be far from me;

You have made me an abomination to them;

I am shut up, and I cannot escape;

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) my eye is dim from my affliction.

Lord, I call daily upon You,

and I have stretched out my hands to You.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Will You show wonders to the dead?

Shall the dead rise up to praise You? Selah

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave,

or your faithfulness in Abaddon?

12 Shall Your wonders be known in the darkness

or Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But unto You have I cried, O Lord,

and in the morning my prayer comes before You.

14 O Lord, why do You cast away my soul?

Why do You hide Your face from me?

15 I am afflicted and close to death since my youth;

while I suffer Your terrors I am helpless.

16 Your fierce wrath sweeps over me;

Your terrors destroy me.

17 They come around me daily like a flood;

they encircle me together.

18 You have caused to be far from me my lovers and friends,

and my companion is darkness.

Psalm 88

[1] O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

[2] Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

[3] For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the

grave.

[4] I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that

hath no strength:

[5] Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou

rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

[6] Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

[7] Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy

waves. Selah.

[8] Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an

abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

[9] Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily

upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

[10] Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise

thee? Selah.

[11] Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness

in destruction?

[12] Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the

land of forgetfulness?

[13] But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer

prevent thee.

[14] LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

[15] I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy

terrors I am distracted.

[16] Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.

[17] They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about

together.

[18] Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into

darkness.

PSALMS 92

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

and to sing praises unto Your name, O Most High:

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) to declare forth Your lovingkindness in the morning

and Your faithfulness in the night,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) on a ten-stringed lute and on the harp,

and on the lyre with a solemn sound.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) For you, O Lord, have made me glad through Your work;

I will sing joyfully at the works of Your hands.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) O Lord, how great are Your works!

Your thoughts are very deep!

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) A brutish man does not recognize,

neither does the fool understand this.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Though the wicked spring up as the grass

and all those who do iniquity flourish,

they shall be destroyed forever:

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) But You, O Lord, are on high forever.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) For Your enemies, O Lord,

for Your enemies shall perish;

all those who do iniquity shall be scattered.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) But my horn You have exalted

like the horn of the wild ox;

You have anointed me with fresh oil.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) My eyes also shall see the downfall of my enemies,

and my ears shall hear the doom of my wicked adversaries.

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree

and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that are planted in the house of the Lord

shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age;

they shall be filled with vitality and foliage,

15 to show that the Lord is upright;

He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Psalm 92

[1] It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises

unto thy name, O most High:

[2] To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness

every night,

[3] Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp

with a solemn sound.

[4] For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in

the works of thy hands.

[5] O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

[6] A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

[7] When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of

iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

[8] But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

[9] For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish;

all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

[10] But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be

anointed with fresh oil.

[11] Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall

hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

[12] The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a

cedar in Lebanon.

[13] Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the

courts of our God.

[14] They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and

flourishing;

[15] To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no

unrighteousness in him.

PSALMS 93

1 The Lord reigns; He is robed in majesty;

the Lord is robed; He has put on strength as His belt.

Indeed, the world is established;

it cannot be moved.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Your throne is established of old;

You are from everlasting.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) The floods have lifted up, O Lord,

the floods have lifted up their voice;

the floods lift up their roaring waves.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) The Lord on high is mightier

than the noise of many waters,

yes, than the mighty waves of the sea.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Your statutes are very sure;

holiness is becoming to Your house,

O Lord, forever.

Psalm 93

[1] The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with

strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished,

that it cannot be moved.

[2] Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

[3] The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their

voice; the floods lift up their waves.

[4] The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than

the mighty waves of the sea.

[5] Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD,

for ever.

Serving Together in Jesus

Philippians 4:14-20

14 (Php 1:7) Nevertheless you did well having shared in my affliction.

15 (Php 1:5; 2Co 11:8-12) Now you Philippians know also,

that in the beginning of the gospel when I departed from Macedonia,

no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving,

except you alone.

16 (1Th 2:9) Even in Thessalonica, you sent aid once and again for

my necessity,

17 (Titus 3:14) not because I desired a gift, but I desire fruit that

accumulates to your account.

18 (Eph 5:2; Php 2:25-26) But I have everything and abound. I have been

filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,

like a sweet fragrance, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

19 (Ro 2:4) But my God shall supply your every need according

to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 (Ro 11:36; Gal 1:4-5) Now to God and our Father be glory forever and ever.

Amen.

[14] Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my

affliction.

[15] Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when

I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning

giving and receiving, but ye only.

[16] For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

[17] Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your

account.

[18] But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus

the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice

acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

[19] But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.

[20] Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Rescue workers cooperated to help three men stranded on an island

in Micronesia. Teamwork was necessary because a widespread health

crisis required them to limit their exposure to each other.

The pilot who first spotted the castaways radioed a nearby Australian

Navy ship. The ship sent two helicopters which provided food, water,

and medical care. Later, the US Coast Guard arrived to check

on the men and deliver a radio. Finally, a Micronesian patrol boat

taxied them to their destination.

We can accomplish a lot when we work together. The Philippian believers

pooled their efforts to support the apostle Paul. Lydia and her family

welcomed him into their home (Acts 16:13-15). Clement and even Euodia

and Syntyche (who didn’t get along) all worked directly with the apostle

to spread the good news (Philippians 4:2-3). Later,

when Paul was imprisoned in Rome, the church gathered essentials

for a care package and delivered it via Epaphroditus (vv. 14-18).

Perhaps most importantly, the Philippians prayed for him throughout

his ministry (1:19).

The examples of believers serving together in this ancient church can

inspire us today. Cooperating with fellow believers to pray and serve

others as God leads and empowers us accomplishes much more than we could

ever do on our own. It has been said,

"Individually, we are one drop. Together we are an ocean."

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 6 - Through The Fire

Is 43:2

2 (Ps 66:12; Da 3:25-27) When you pass through waters,

I will be with you. And through the rivers,they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

nor shall the flame kindle on you.

2 When thou passest through the waters,

I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:

when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;

neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

In the Book of Daniel, 3 young men provide one of the world's best-known

Bible stories. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three of the finest young

men of Israel, were taken into capitivity to Babylon. There King

Nebuchadnezzar, filled with his own importance, commanded that

everyone bow down and worship his image.

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship anyone

except the One True god, they were cast into Nebuchadnezzar's

furnace of fire.

Is 43:2 brings their experience into focus for us. There the Lord says,

"When you pass through the fire ... when you walk through the water ..."

Not if, but when. If we are committed to serving and honouring the Lord,

at some point we will be faced with "passing through the fire" for hm.

We may not face a physical furnace, but we may face the fires of

persecution, anger, hostility or suffering. And God says:

"I will be with you."

When the three young Israelites stepped into the king's furnace, all

the people looked and saw, not three, but four men in the fire, their

bonds burned away, walking freely among the flames. They did not

escape the fate decreed for them. But the Lord was with them in

the fire, as surely as he has promised to be with us in the flood

and the fire, as surely as he has promised to be with us in the

flood and fire tht life brings to us. The promise of god remains:

"I will be with you; the waters will not overflow, nor will the

flames burn you."

Application

a) What kinds of "fires" and "Floods" have I experienced?

b) How was I aware of the Lord's presence with me?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Mark 4:20-25

20 (Mk 4:8; Jn 15:4-5) "Still others are seed sown on good ground,

those who hear the word, and receive it, and bear fruit:

thirty, sixty, or a hundred times as much."

A Light Under a Basket

Lk 8:16-18

21 (Mt 5:15; Lk 8:16) He said to them, "Is a candle brought to be put

under a basket or under a bed and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 (Lk 8:17) For there is nothing hidden except to be revealed;

neither is anything kept secret except to be proclaimed.

23 (Mk 4:9; Mt 11:15)If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."

24 (Mt 7:2) He said to them, "Take heed what you hear.

The measure you give will be measured for you,

and to you who hear will more be given.

25 (Mt 13:12; Lk 8:18) For to him who has will more be given.

And from him who has not will be taken, even what he has."

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground;

such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit,

some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put

under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;

neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete,

it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

25 For he that hath, to him shall be given:

and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Help in Times of Temptation

Hebrews 4:14-16

Jesus the Great High Priest

14 (Heb 6:20; 1:2-3) Since then we have a great High Priest

Who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold firmly to our confession.

15 (2Co 5:21; Jn 8:46) For we do not have a High Priest

who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses,

but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.

16 (Eph 3:12; Php 4:6-7) Let us then come with confidence

to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy

and find grace to help in time of need.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help in time of need.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Amen.

6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2022 edition?)

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

I) Pray for the leaders of Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut,

that God's Spirit would influence then to act justly,

serve with integrity

and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4

1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,

prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,

2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,

that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,

3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good

and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,

prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Doctor Who: Mission to the Unknown - A Curious Case

"Mission to the Unknown" is a unique entry in Doctor Who lore.

Airing in 1965 as part of the First Doctor's era,

it holds the distinction of being the shortest Doctor Who

story ever, a single 25-minute episode. Here's a breakdown

to help you decide if you want to embark on this brief

but intriguing mission:

Story

This serial does not feature the Doctor and his companions.

Instead, it focuses on space security agents sent

to investigate a distress call from a damaged

alien vessel. Upon arrival, they encounter strange

plant life with mind-altering effects

and the deadly threat of the Daleks,

who were introduced in the previous serial.

Review

Strengths

A Prequel to Dalek Greatness: "Mission to the Unknown"

serves as a prelude to the epic serial

"The Daleks' Master Plan," introducing the Daleks'

master plan and setting the stage for their confrontation

with the Doctor.

Focus on Dalek Threat: This short episode showcases

the ruthlessness and intelligence of the Daleks,

building suspense for their future encounters with the Doctor.

Atmospheric Setting: Despite limited resources, the episode

creates a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere onboard

the damaged spaceship.

Weaknesses

Lack of the Doctor and Companions: The absence

of the familiar faces might be a drawback for some viewers

accustomed to the Doctor's presence.

Limited Scope Due to Length: Being a single episode,

"Mission to the Unknown" lacks the character development

and plot complexity found in longer serials.

Dated Special Effects: The special effects used

for the alien plants and the Daleks might seem primitive

by modern standards.

Reception:

Positive: Praised for its connection to

"The Daleks' Master Plan," focusing on the Dalek threat,

and creating an atmospheric setting within the time

constraints. Some fans also appreciate the experimentation

with a Doctor-lite story.

Negative: Criticised for the absence of the Doctor

and companions, limited scope due to the short length,

and dated special effects.

Overall Thoughts:

"Mission to the Unknown" is a historical curiosity

in Doctor Who. While the lack of the Doctor might

be a turn-off for some, it offers a different

perspective on the Dalek threat

and sets the stage for a larger narrative.

Would I recommend watching it?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 6/10 (Especially those completing

"The Daleks' Master Plan" and interested in seeing the introduction

of the Dalek masterplan)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 2/10 (The short length

and lack of the Doctor might make it less appealing for modern viewers)

Additional Points to Consider:

This episode was originally intended as the first episode

of "The Daleks' Master Plan" but was later separated due

to scheduling constraints.

If you enjoy "Mission to the Unknown"

and find the concept of stories focusing

on characters besides the Doctor intriguing,

you might want to explore other "Doctor-lite"

episodes produced throughout the show's history.

Jos 21:4-39

31 (2Sa 6:17; 1Ch 15:16-22) These are the ones whom David appointed

over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after the ark rested there.

32 Now they were ministering before the dwelling place of the tabernacle

of meeting with singing until Solomon had built the house of the Lord

in Jerusalem, and they were arranged

by their order according to their service.

33 (1Ch 6:28; 15:17) These are the ones standing in order with their sons.

Of the sons of the Kohathites were

Heman the singer,

the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34 the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham,

the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35 the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah,

the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36 the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel,

the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37 the son of Tahath, the son of Assir,

the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,

38 the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath,

the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39 (2Ch 5:12; 29:13) His brother Asaph, the one standing at his right hand, was

Asaph the son of Berekiah, the son of Shimea,

40 the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah,

the son of Malkijah,

41 the son of Ethni,

the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

42 the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah,

the son of Shimei,

43 the son of Jahath,

the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

44 Of the sons of Merari, their brothers, standing on the left hand was

Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi,

the son of Malluk,

45 the son of Hashabiah,

the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

46 the son of Amzi, the son of Bani,

the son of Shemer,

47 the son of Mahli,

the son of Mushi, the son of Merari,

the son of Levi.

48 Their brothers the Levites also were appointed for

all kinds of service to the tabernacle of the house of God.

49 (Ex 27:1-8; 30:1-7) But Aaron and his sons were making sacrifices

on the altar of the burnt offering and on the altar of incense for all

the work of the Most Holy Place and to make atonement for Israel,

according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50 Now these are the sons of Aaron:

Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son,

Abishua his son,

51 Bukki his son,

Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

52 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son,

Ahitub his son,

53 (2Sa 8:17) Zadok his son,

and Ahimaaz his son.

54 (Ge 25:16) And these are their dwelling places according to their walled

settlements in their territory, for they were given to them, namely

to the sons of Aaron and to the families of the Kohathites, by lot.

55 (Jos 14:13) They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah,

and its surrounding outlands.

56 (Jos 15:13) But the open fields of the city, and its villages,

they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

57 (Jos 15:48; 21:13-14) To the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah

with the cities of refuge: Hebron and Libnah with its outlands,

Jattir and Esh-temoa with their outlands,

58 (Jos 10:3) Hilen with its outlands, Debir with its outlands,

59 (Jos 21:16; 15:42) Ashan with its outlands, and Beth Shemesh

with its outlands.

60 (Jer 1:1) From the tribe of Benjamin, they gave Geba with its outlands,

Alemeth with its outlands, and Anathoth with its outlands.

All their cities throughout their families were thirteen.

61 To the sons of Kohath, those remaining from the family of that tribe,

they gave ten cities by lot from half the tribe of Manasseh.

62 To the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, they gave

from the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe

of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities in all.

63 (Jos 21:7; 21:34-40) To the sons of Merari, throughout their families,

they gave by lot from the tribe of Reuben, from the tribe of Gad,

and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities in all.

64 (Jos 21:41-42; 21:3) Thus, the sons of Israel gave cities with their

outlands to the Levites.

65 They gave by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah,

and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon,

and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin,

these cities, which are called by their names.

66 Then some from the families of the sons of Kohath

received cities for their territory from the tribe of Ephraim.

67 (Jos 21:21) They gave to them with the cities of refuge:

Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim with its outlands,

Gezer with its outlands,

68 Jokmeam with its outlands, Beth Horon with its outlands,

69 (Jos 10:12) Aijalon with its outlands, and Gath Rimmon with its outlands.

70 Also the half-tribe of Manasseh gave Aner with its outlands

and Bileam with its outlands for the remaining family of the sons of Kohath.

71 (Jos 21:27; 9:10) To the sons of Gershom, the family of the half-tribe

of Manasseh gave Golan in Bashan with its outlands and Ashtaroth

with its outlands.

72 From the tribe of Issachar, they received Kedesh

with its outlands, Daberath with its outlands,

Abdon with its outlands,

75 Hukok with its outlands, and Rehob with its outlands.

76 (Jos 21:32) From the tribe of Naphtali, they received Kedesh in Galilee

with its outlands, Hammon with its outlands, and Kiriathaim with its outlands.

77 (Jos 21:34-35) To the remaining sons of Merari, the tribe of Zebulun gave

Rimmono with its outlands and Tabor with its outlands.

78 (Jos 20:8) Then on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho,

to the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben they were given Bezer

in the wilderness with its outlands, Jahzah with its outlands,

79 Kedemoth with its outlands, and Mephaath with its outlands.

81 (Jos 21:39) Heshbon with its outlands, and Jazer with its outlands.

[31] And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house

of the LORD, after that the ark had rest.

[32] And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the

congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in

Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order.

[33] And these are they that waited with their children. Of the sons of the

Kohathites: Heman a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Shemuel,

[34] The son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of

Toah,

[35] The son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of

Amasai,

[36] The son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of

Zephaniah,

[37] The son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of

Korah,

[38] The son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of

Israel.

[39] And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son

of Berachiah, the son of Shimea,

[40] The son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchiah,

[41] The son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

[42] The son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,

[43] The son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

[44] And their brethren the sons of Merari stood on the left hand: Ethan the

son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

[45] The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

[46] The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shamer,

[47] The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

[48] Their brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of

service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

[49] But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering,

and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the

place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that

Moses the servant of God had commanded.

[50] And these are the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son,

Abishua his son,

[51] Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

[52] Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,

[53] Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

[54] Now these are their dwelling places throughout their castles in their

coasts, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: for theirs

was the lot.

[55] And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof

round about it.

[56] But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to

Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

[57] And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah, namely, Hebron,

the city of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa,

with their suburbs,

[58] And Hilen with her suburbs, Debir with her suburbs,

[59] And Ashan with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs:

[60] And out of the tribe of Benjamin; Geba with her suburbs, and Alemeth

with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. All their cities throughout

their families were thirteen cities.

[61] And unto the sons of Kohath, which were left of the family of that

tribe, were cities given out of the half tribe, namely, out of the half

tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.

[62] And to the sons of Gershom throughout their families out of the tribe

God Is My Helper

Joshua 14:6-12

6 (Nu 14:30; 13:6) The descendants of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal,

and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him,

"You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God about you

and me at Kadesh Barnea.

7 (Nu 13:6; 13:16-20) I was forty years old when Moses the servant

of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy on the land,

and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.

8 (Nu 14:24; Dt 1:36) My companions who went up with me made

the hearts of the people melt, but I wholeheartedly followed

after the Lord my God.

9 (Dt 1:36; Jos 1:3) On that day Moses swore an oath,

"The land on which your foot treads shall be your inheritance,

for your descendants perpetually, because you completely followed

after the Lord my God."

10 "Now, the Lord has kept me alive, just as He said, for 45 years,

since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered

in the wilderness. Now, here I am this day, 85 years old.

11 (Dt 34:7; 31:2) I am still just as strong today as I was on the day

that Moses sent me. My strength now is just like my strength then,

both for battle and for going out and returning.

12 (Nu 13:33; 13:28) So now, give me this hill country that the Lord

spoke about on that day. That day you heard that the Anakites

live there in large, fortified cities. Perhaps the Lord will be with me,

and I will drive them out, as the Lord said."

[6] Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son

of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the

LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.

[7] Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from

Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was

in mine heart.

[8] Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the

people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

[9] And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet

have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever,

because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

[10] And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty

and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the

children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day

fourscore and five years old.

[11] As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me:

as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go

out, and to come in.

[12] Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that

day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the

cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I

shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

Hebrews 13:6

6 (Ps 56:4) So we may boldly say:

"The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.

What can man do to me?"(Ps 118:6.)

[6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.

My friend Raleigh is sprinting toward his eighty-fifth birthday!

Since my first conversation with him more than thirty-five years ago,

he's been a source of inspiration. When he recently mentioned that since

retiring he'd completed a book manuscript and started another ministry

initiative-I was intrigued but not surprised.

At eighty-five, Caleb in the Bible wasn't ready to stop either.

His faith and devotion to God had sustained him through decades

of wilderness living and wars to secure the inheritance God had promised

Israel. He said,

" As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me:

as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go

out, and to come in." (Joshua 14:11). By what means would he conquer?

Caleb declared that by "if so be the LORD will be with me, then I

shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said" (v. 12).

Regardless of age, stage in life, or circumstances, God will help all

who wholeheartedly trust Him. In Jesus, our Saviour who helps us, God

was made visible. The Gospel books inspire faith in God through what

we see in Christ. He demonstrated God's care and compassion

for all who looked to Him for help. As the writer of Hebrews acknowledged,

"The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me" (Hebrews 13:6). Young or old, weak or strong,

bound or free, sprinting or limping-what's keeping us from asking

for His help today?

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 5 - Waiting for the Wind

Is 40:31

31 (2Co 4:16; Ps 103:5; Ex 19:4)

but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary,

and they shall walk and not faint.

31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;

and they shall walk, and not faint.

High above civilisation, alone on his craggy peak, the eagle waits.

He watches, senses, and then, with effortless grace, he spreads

his wings and soars. He does not flap frantically to gain altitude,

he merely turns his wings into the wind and rises.

Is 40:31 promises that we, too, can be like the eagle,

mounting up on wings, soaring effortlessly,

without weariness. But this is not often our experience.

We usually flap around like invalid pigeons, scratching

for mere existence, flying only when our place in the park is disturbed.

We need to learn to wait on the Lord. Like the wind that raises the eagle

to the heights, the wind of the Spirit will lift us up as well - beyond

the weariness of daily life, beyond the struggle for existence, beyond

the plodding pace of normal interaction.

But the eagle does not rise without plunging for the cliff into the wind.

His ability to stay aloft is based on his understand of wind currents;

when the wind is against him, he rises. He waits on the cliff

until the right moment, then allows the contrary breezes to lift him up.

Most of us are grounded by the winds that are against us. We give up

and never take the first flight. We fear the plunge from the cliff into the

buoyant breath of God, and so we stand fixed, afraid to launch out.

But when we do take the risk, when we wait upon the Lord, and then

give ourselves in obedience to a free-fall from the cliffs of his will,

we discover that there is rest in soaring with him. We do not have to

struggle; we have only to fly, and in flying, to find new strength.

Application

a) Why is "waiting upon the Lord" essential

to "Mounting up with wings as the eagle"?

b) How can this verse help me be more willing to take risks in God's will?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Haggai 2:7-9

7 (1Ki 8:11; Isa 60:7) And I will shake all the nations,

and they will come with the wealth of all nations,

and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of Hosts.

8 (Isa 60:17) The silver is mine, and the gold is Mine,

says the Lord of Hosts.

9 (Isa 9:6-7) The glory of this latter house will be greater

than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place

I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.

7 and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations

shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater

than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place

will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Help in Times of Temptation

James 1:12-18

Trial and Temptation

12 (Jas 2:5; 1Co 9:25; 2Ti 4:8) Blessed is the man who endures temptation,

for when he is tried, he will receive the crown of life,

which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God,"

for God cannot be tempted with evil; neither does He tempt anyone.

14 But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

15 (Job 15:35; Ps 7:14) Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin;

and when sin is finished, it brings forth death.

16 (Jas 1:19; 2:5) Do not err, my beloved brothers.

17 (Mal 3:6; Nu 23:19; Jn 3:27) Every good gift and every perfect gift

is from above and comes down from the Father of lights,

with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

18 (1Pe 1:23; Jn 1:13; Rev 14:4) Of His own will He brought us forth with

the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried,

he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised

to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:

for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,

and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:

and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,

neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,

that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Amen.

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Doctor Who: Galaxy 4 - A Mixed Bag on a Lost Planet

"Galaxy 4" is a lost serial from Doctor Who's classic era, originally airing in 1965 as part of the First Doctor's tenure. Due to missing episodes, reconstructions are used to view the story, which can affect the overall experience. Here's a breakdown to help you decide if you'd like to venture to this mysterious planet:

Story

The TARDIS lands on a seemingly barren planet called Galaxy 4. The Doctor, Steven, and Vicki encounter the ammonia-based alien race, the Rills, who communicate telepathically and appear somewhat repulsive due to their reliance on ammonia environments. Meanwhile, a group of humanoid aliens called the Drahvins arrive, claiming ownership of the planet. The companions get caught in the middle of this conflict while the Doctor tries to unravel the truth about Galaxy 4 and the intentions of both alien races.

Review

Strengths

Unique Alien Concepts: The story introduces the concepts of ammonia-based life forms (the Rills) and telepathic communication, which were original ideas for television at the time.

Moral Complexity: The serial doesn't present clear-cut heroes and villains. Both the Rills and the Drahvins have their own motivations, raising questions about perception and prejudice.

Strong Voice Acting (Rills): Despite not being seen fully, the voice acting for the Rills is considered a highlight, bringing them to life in a memorable way.

Weaknesses

Missing Episodes: Unfortunately, a large portion of "Galaxy 4" is lost, with only reconstructions available. This can disrupt the narrative flow and make certain plot points less clear for modern viewers.

Dated Special Effects: The visual effects used for the alien races and the planet itself might seem primitive by modern standards, especially when relying on reconstructions.

Slow Pacing in Parts (Reconstructions): The reconstructed version might feel slow at times, especially during exposition scenes explaining the alien races and the conflict on the planet.

Reception:

Positive: Praised for its unique alien concepts, exploration of moral complexity, and strong voice acting for the Rills. Some fans also appreciate the subversion of expectations regarding the alien races.

Negative: Criticized for its large amount of missing episodes that hinder the narrative, dated special effects (especially noticeable in reconstructions), and slow pacing in certain sections.

Overall Thoughts:

"Galaxy 4" has interesting ideas but suffers from the limitations of its era and the loss of episodes. While the reconstructions might not be ideal, the story offers a glimpse into the inventiveness of early Doctor Who and explores thought-provoking themes about appearances being deceitful.

Would I recommend watching it?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 5/10 (Especially those interested in the show's exploration of alien societies and moral dilemmas, but be prepared for the missing episodes)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 3/10

If you're a die-hard fan of classic Doctor Who and are willing to overlook the limitations of lost episodes and reconstructions, "

ChapGPT review Doctor Who The Space Pirates

"Doctor Who: The Space Pirates" is a Doctor Who serial from the Patrick Troughton era, originally broadcast in 1969. Here's a review of the serial:

Episode 1: The story starts with the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe arriving on a space beacon where they encounter a mysterious group of space pirates. The introduction sets up an intriguing premise, but the pacing feels somewhat slow. Rating: 6/10

Episode 2: The Doctor and his companions continue to investigate the disappearance of a missing Earth cargo ship and encounter various characters, including the ruthless space pirate Caven. The tension begins to build, but the story feels somewhat disjointed. Rating: 6/10

Episode 3: The Doctor and his companions are separated, and they each face their own challenges while trying to uncover the truth behind the space pirate operation. The plot progresses, but some scenes feel drawn out. Rating: 6/10

Episode 4: The climax of the story sees the Doctor and his allies devising a plan to stop the space pirates and rescue the captured spaceship. The action sequences are engaging, but the resolution feels somewhat rushed. Rating: 7/10

Overall, "The Space Pirates" is considered one of the weaker serials of the Second Doctor era. While it has an interesting premise and some moments of excitement, the pacing is inconsistent, and the story lacks the depth and cohesion found in other serials of the era. The absence of existing footage for most of the episodes also hampers the viewing experience. Overall Rating: 6.25/10

1) Psalms 73, 77, 78

PSALMS 73

BOOK THREE

Psalms 73-89

A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Truly God is good to Israel,

to the pure in heart.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) But as for me, my feet almost stumbled;

my steps had almost slipped.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For I was envious at the boastful;

I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) For there are no pains in their death;

their bodies are fat.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) They are not in trouble as other people;

nor are they plagued like others.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Therefore pride is their necklace;

violence covers them as a garment.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Their eyes bulge with fatness;

they have more than a heart could wish.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) They mock and speak with evil oppression;

they speak loftily.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) They set their mouth against the heavens,

and their tongue struts through the earth.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Therefore people turn to them,

and abundant waters are drunk by them.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) They say, "How does God know?

And is there knowledge with the Most High?"

12 Observe, these are the wicked, always at ease;

they increase in riches.

13 Surely I have kept my heart pure for nothing,

and washed my hands in innocence.

14 For all the day long I am plagued,

and chastened every morning.

15 If I said, "I will speak thus,"

I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.

16 When I thought to understand this,

it was troublesome in my eyes,

17 until I went into the sanctuary of God;

then I understood their end.

18 Surely You have set them in slippery places;

You have brought them down to ruin.

19 How they come to desolation, as in a moment!

They have come to an end, utterly consumed with terrors.

20 As a dream when one awakes,

so, O Lord, when You awake,

You will despise their form.

21 Thus my heart was embittered,

and I was pierced in my feelings.

22 I was a brute and did not understand;

I was as a beast before You.

23 Nevertheless I am continually with You;

You have held me by my right hand.

24 You will guide me with Your counsel,

and afterward receive me to glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but You?

And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You.

26 My flesh and my heart fails,

but God is the strength of my heart

and my portion forever.

27 For those who are far from You will perish;

You destroy everyone who is unfaithful to You.

28 But it is good for me to draw near to God;

I have taken my refuge in the Lord God,

that I may declare all Your works.

Psalm 73

[1] Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

[2] But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

[3] For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the

wicked.

[4] For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

[5] They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like

other men.

[6] Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them

as a garment.

[7] Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

[8] They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak

loftily.

[9] They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh

through the earth.

[10] Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung

out to them.

[11] And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most

High?

[12] Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase

in riches.

[13] Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in

innocency.

[14] For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

[15] If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the

generation of thy children.

[16] When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

[17] Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

[18] Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down

into destruction.

[19] How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly

consumed with terrors.

[20] As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt

despise their image.

[21] Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

[22] So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

[23] Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my

right hand.

[24] Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to

glory.

[25] Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I

desire beside thee.

[26] My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and

my portion for ever.

[27] For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed

all them that go a whoring from thee.

[28] But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the

Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

For the Music Director. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 I cried out to God with my voice,

even to God with my voice; and He listened to me.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;

in the night my hand is stretched out and does not weary,

my soul refuses to be comforted.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) I remember God, and I groan;

I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) You hold my eyelids open;

I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) I have considered the days of old,

the years long ago.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) May I remember my song in the night;

may I meditate in my heart;

my spirit made a diligent search:

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) "Will the Lord cast off forever,

and will He be favorable no more?

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Has His mercy ceased forever,

and have His promises failed for all time?

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) Has God forgotten to be gracious,

and has He in anger shut up His tender mercies?" Selah

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Then I said, "This is my grief;

yet I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High."

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) I will remember the works of the Lord;

surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

12 I will meditate also on all Your work

and ponder on Your mighty deeds.

13 Your way, O God, is holiness;

what god is as great as our God?

14 You are the God who can do wonders;

You have declared Your strength among the nations.

15 You have with Your arm redeemed Your people,

the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

16 The waters saw You, O God.

The waters saw You; they were afraid;

the depths also trembled.

17 The clouds poured out water;

the skies thundered.

Your arrows flashed about.

18 The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind,

and Your lightning lit up the world;

the earth trembled and shook.

19 Your way is through the sea,

and Your path in the great waters,

and your footsteps are not seen.

20 You led Your people like a flock

by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Psalm 77

[1] I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave

ear unto me.

[2] In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night,

and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

[3] I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was

overwhelmed. Selah.

[4] Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

[5] I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

[6] I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own

heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

[7] Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

[8] Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

[9] Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender

mercies? Selah.

[10] And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the

right hand of the most High.

[11] I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy

wonders of old.

[12] I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

[13] Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

[14] Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength

among the people.

[15] Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and

Joseph. Selah.

[16] The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the

depths also were troubled.

[17] The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows

also went abroad.

[18] The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened

the world: the earth trembled and shook.

[19] Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy

footsteps are not known.

[20] Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

A Contemplative Maskil of Asaph.

1 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;

incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) I will open my mouth in a parable;

I will utter insightful sayings of old,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) which we have heard and known,

what our fathers have told us.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 )We will not hide them from their children,

but will tell the coming generation

the praises of the Lord,

and His strength, and the wonderful works that He has done.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) For He established a rule in Jacob,

and appointed a law in Israel,

which He commanded our fathers

that they should make them known to their children,

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) that the generation to come might know them,

even the children who are not yet born,

who will arise and declare them to their children:

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) that they might set their hope in God

and not forget the works of God,

but keep His commandments,

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) and they might not be as their fathers,

a stubborn and rebellious generation,

a generation that did not set their heart steadfast,

and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) The people of Ephraim, being armed with bows,

turned back in the day of battle.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) They did not keep the covenant of God

and refused to walk in His law;

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) and they forgot His works

and the wonders that He had shown them.

12 In the sight of their ancestors He did marvelous wonders

in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through,

and He made the waters to stand as a heap.

14 In the daytime He led them with a cloud,

and all the night with a light of fire.

15 He split rocks in the wilderness

and gave them abundance to drink as out of the great depths.

16 He brought streams out of the rock

and caused waters to run down like rivers.

17 They sinned yet more against Him

by provoking the Most High in the wilderness.

18 They tested God in their heart

by demanding the food that they craved.

19 They spoke against God by saying,

"Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

20 Behold, He struck the rock, so that the waters gushed out

and the streams overflowed.

Can He give bread

or provide meat for His people?"

21 Therefore the Lord heard this and was full of wrath;

a fire was kindled against Jacob,

and anger also came up against Israel,

22 because they did not believe in God

nor trust in His deliverance.

23 Yet He had commanded the skies above

and opened the doors of heaven,

24 and He rained down manna upon them to eat

and gave them the grain of heaven.

25 Man ate the food of mighty angels;

He sent them bread in abundance.

26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens,

and by His power He brought out a south wind.

27 He rained meat on them as dust,

and winged birds as the sand of the sea;

28 and He let them fall in the midst of their camp

all around their habitations.

29 So they ate and were satisfied,

for He gave them their own desire;

30 while they were not yet filled up,

and while the meat was still in their mouths,

31 the wrath of God came upon them,

and He killed the strongest of them

and struck down the young men of Israel.

32 For all this they sinned still,

and did not believe despite His wondrous works.

33 Therefore He made their days vanish like a breath,

and their years in trouble.

34 When He killed them, then they sought Him;

they turned back and longed for God.

35 They remembered that God was their rock,

and the Most High God their redeemer.

36 Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth,

and they lied to Him with their tongues;

37 for their heart was not devoted to Him,

neither were they committed to His covenant.

38 But He being full of compassion

forgave their iniquity

and did not destroy them.

He constantly restrained His anger,

and did not stir up all His wrath;

39 for He remembered that they were but flesh,

like a wind that passes away and does not return.

40 How often they provoked Him in the wilderness

and grieved Him in the desert!

41 Yes, they tested God over and over,

and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

42 They did not remember His power,

nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy,

43 how He had performed His signs in Egypt

and His wonders in the fields of Zoan:

44 and He turned their rivers into blood,

so that they could not drink from their streams.

45 He sent swarms of flies among them, which devoured them,

and frogs, which destroyed them.

46 He gave also their crops to the grasshopper

and the fruit of their labor to the locust.

47 He destroyed their vines with hail

and their sycamore trees with frost.

48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail

and their flocks to thunderbolts.

49 He cast upon them the fierceness of His anger,

wrath, indignation, and trouble,

by sending angels bringing disaster.

50 He made a path for His anger;

He did not spare them from death,

but gave their lives over to the plague,

51 And struck down all the firstborn in Egypt,

the first fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.

52 Then He led out His own people like sheep

and guided them in the wilderness like a flock;

53 He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid,

but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

54 He brought them to the border of His holy land,

to the mountain that His right hand had acquired.

55 He cast out the nations also before them,

and divided for them their tribal allotments,

and made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.

56 Yet they tested and provoked the Most High God,

and did not keep His commands,

57 but turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers;

they turned aside like a deceitful bow.

58 For they provoked Him to anger with their high places

and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.

59 When God heard this, He was full of wrath

and greatly rejected Israel

60 so that He left the tabernacle at Shiloh,

the tent where He lived among people,

61 and delivered His strength to captivity

and His glory into the enemy's hand.

62 He gave His people over also to the sword;

He was enraged with His inheritance.

63 The fire consumed their young men,

and their maidens were not given to marriage in song.

64 Their priests fell by the sword,

and their widows made no lamentation.

65 Then the Lord awoke as one out of sleep,

and like a mighty man who shouts because of wine.

66 He routed His enemies back,

and He made them a perpetual reproach.

67 Moreover, He rejected the tent of Joseph,

and He did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,

68 but chose the tribe of Judah,

Mount Zion which He loves.

69 He built His sanctuary like the high heavens,

like the earth that He has established perpetually.

70 He chose David His servant

and took him from the sheepfolds;

71 from following the nursing ewes He brought him

to shepherd Jacob His people,

and Israel His inheritance.

72 So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart

and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Psalm 78

[1] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my

mouth.

[2] I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

[3] Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

[4] We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to

come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that

he hath done.

[5] For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel,

which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their

children:

[6] That the generation to come might know them, even the children which

should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

[7] That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God,

but keep his commandments:

[8] And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation;

a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not

stedfast with God.

[9] The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in

the day of battle.

[10] They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

[11] And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

[12] Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of

Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

[13] He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the

waters to stand as an heap.

[14] In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a

light of fire.

[15] He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the

great depths.

[16] He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down

like rivers.

[17] And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the

wilderness.

[18] And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

[19] Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the

wilderness?

[20] Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams

overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

[21] Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled

against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

[22] Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

[23] Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of

heaven,

[24] And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the

corn of heaven.

[25] Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

[26] He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he

brought in the south wind.

[27] He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the

sand of the sea:

[28] And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their

habitations.

[29] So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own

desire;

[30] They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet

in their mouths,

[31] The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and

smote down the chosen men of Israel.

[32] For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous

works.

[33] Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in

trouble.

[34] When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired

early after God.

[35] And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their

redeemer.

[36] Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto

him with their tongues.

[37] For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in

his covenant.

[38] But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed

them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all

his wrath.

[39] For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away,

and cometh not again.

[40] How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the

desert!

[41] Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of

Israel.

[42] They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from

the enemy.

[43] How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of

Zoan:

[44] And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they

could not drink.

[45] He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and

frogs, which destroyed them.

[46] He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto

the locust.

[47] He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with

frost.

[48] He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot

thunderbolts.

[49] He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation,

and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

[50] He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but

gave their life over to the pestilence;

[51] And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in

the tabernacles of Ham:

[52] But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the

wilderness like a flock.

[53] And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea

overwhelmed their enemies.

[54] And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this

mountain, which his right hand had purchased.

[55] He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an

inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

[56] Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his

testimonies:

[57] But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were

turned aside like a deceitful bow.

[58] For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to

jealousy with their graven images.

[59] When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

[60] So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed

among men;

[61] And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the

enemy's hand.

[62] He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his

inheritance.

[63] The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to

marriage.

[64] Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

[65] Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that

shouteth by reason of wine.

[66] And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a

perpetual reproach.

[67] Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe

of Ephraim:

[68] But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

[69] And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he

hath established for ever.

[70] He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

[71] From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob

his people, and Israel his inheritance.

[72] So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them

by the skilfulness of his hands.

2) Our Daily Bread for 24 April 2024 titled

United Diversity in Christ

1 Corinthians 12:4-7,12-14,21-27

4 (Heb 2:4; Ro 12:4-6) There are various gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 (1Co 15:28) There are various operations, but it is the same God

who operates all of them in all people.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given

to everyone for the common good.

[4] Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

[5] And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

[6] And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which

worketh all in all.

[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit

withal.

One Body With Many Members

12 (1Co 12:27; 10:17) For as the body is one and has many parts,

and all the many parts of that one body are one body, so also is Christ.

13 (Jn 7:37-39; Gal 3:28) For by one Spirit we are all baptised

into one body, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, whether we are slaves

or free, and we have all been made to drink of one Spirit.

14 The body is not one part, but many.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you,"

nor the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

22 No, those parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

23 And those parts of the body which we think are less honorable,

upon these we bestow more abundant honor. And our less respectable

parts are treated with much more respect,

24 whereas our more respectable parts have no need of this.

But God has composed the body, having given more abundant honour

to that part which lacks it,

25 so that there should be no division in the body,

but that the parts should have the same care for one another.

26 (Ro 12:15) If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it,

and if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.

27 (Ro 12:5; Eph 1:23) Now you are the body of Christ

and members individually.

28 (Heb 13:17; 13:24) God has put these in the church:

first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles,

then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various tongues.

29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?

Are all workers of miracles?

30 Do all have the gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues?

Do all interpret?

31 (1Co 14:39)But earnestly covet the greater gifts.

[12] For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of

that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

[13] For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews

or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink

into one Spirit.

[14] For the body is not one member, but many.

[21] And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again

the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

[22] Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble,

are necessary:

[23] And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable,

upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more

abundant comeliness.

[24] For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body

together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

[25] That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should

have the same care one for another.

[26] And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one

member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

[27] Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

In his essay "Service and the Spectrum," Professor Daniel Bowman Jr.

writes of the difficulty of navigating decisions about how to serve

his church as an autistic person. He explains, "Autistic people have to forge

a new path forward every single time, a unique path that takes into account

. . . mental, emotional, and physical energy . . . alone/recharging time;

sensory inputs and comfort level . . . time of day; whether or not we're being

valued for our strengths and accommodated for our needs rather than excluded

for perceived deficits; and much more." For many people, Bowman writes,

such decisions, "while reorienting people's time and energy,

likely will not undo them. Those same decisions might well undo me."

Bowman believes that the vision of mutuality Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 12

could be a healing solution. There, in verses 4-6, Paul describes God uniquely

gifting each of His people for "the common good" (v. 7). Each is an

"indispensable" member of Christ's body (v. 22). When churches come

to understand each person's unique, God-given wiring and gifting,

instead of pressuring everyone to help in the same way, they can support

their members to serve in ways that fit their giftings.

In this way, each person can find flourishing

and wholeness and be secure in their valued place in Christ’s body (v. 26).

Reflect & Pray

How have you been blessed by others' unique gifts?

How can churches encourage diverse ways to serve?

Dear God, thank You for creating us all uniquely.

Please help me to value every member of Christ's body.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 4 - Send for Help !

James 1:5

5 (Pr 2:3-6; Jn 15:7) If any of you lacks wisdom,

let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally

and without criticism, and it will be given to him.

5 If any of you lack wisdom,

let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,

and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

A new employee in an electronics plant had the responsibility

for overseeing one machine. The machine worked fine when the young man

came on duty, but soon it began to run a bit rough. The employee

tinkered with the machine, trying to "fix" it, until finally if stopped

working altogether

In fear and trembling the worker sent for the foreman, and stammered,

"I - I, well, sir, I did my best to fix it."

"Son", the foreman thundered, "you need to know only one thing. Around

here, doing you best means sending for me!"

Wisdom, James 1:5 says, has its source in God alone. And if we are

to attain wisdom, we need to learn doing our best means sending for God.

Often we spend time tinkering with our lives or the the lives of others.

We don't think to as God for his wisdom in the decisions we must take;

instead, we use our human reasoning and take our best guess.

But the path to wisdom does not lie in guesswork. The scriptures

give us clear indication of God's direction for his people, and through Bible

study, application, prayer, and meditation,

we can understand what God wants to reveal to us.

"If any of you lacks wisdom," James says, "he should ask God, who gives

generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

The first step to attaining wisdom is recognising that we are not wise.

The second step is to ask. And God, who is faithful to his Word

and His people, will respond.

Application

a) Under what circumstances have I tinkered with my life,

making it worse rather then fixing it?

b) What practical steps can I take to ask God for wisdom?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Deut 30:19-20

19 (Dt 4:26; 30:1) I call heaven and earth to witnesses against you this day,

that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse.

Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

20 (Dt 10:20; Ps 27:1) that you may love the Lord your God,

that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him,

for He is your life and the length of your days;

and that you may dwell in the land that the Lord

swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,

that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:

therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 that thou mayest love the LORD thy God,

and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him:

for he is thy life, and the length of thy days:

that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD

sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Ps 103:1-14

PSALMS 103

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and forget not all His benefits,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) who forgives all your iniquities,

who heals all your diseases,

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) who redeems your life from the pit,

who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) who satisfies your mouth with good things,

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8–9) The Lord does righteousness

and justice for all who are oppressed.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) He made known His ways to Moses,

His acts to the people of Israel.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) The Lord is merciful and gracious,

slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) He will not always accuse,

neither will He keep his anger forever.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) He does not treat us according to our sins,

nor repay us according to our iniquities.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) For as the heavens are high above the earth,

so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

12 as far as the east is from the west,

so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like a father shows compassion to his children,

so the Lord gives compassion to those who fear Him.

14 For He knows how we are formed;

He remembers that we are dust.

Psalm 103

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul:

And all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;

Who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;

Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;

So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment

For all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses,

His acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,

Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide:

Neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins;

Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth,

So great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west,

So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children,

So the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame;

He remembereth that we are dust.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Doctor Who: The Time Meddler - A Monk Mishap

"The Time Meddler" is a 1965 serial from Doctor

Who's classic era, part of the First Doctor's adventures.

Here's a breakdown to help you decide if you'd like to

embark on this timey-wimey adventure with a meddling menace:

Story

The TARDIS materializes on the Northumbrian coast in the

11th century. The Doctor, Vicki, and Steven encounter

a mysterious figure called the Monk who is tampering

with history by aiding the Vikings

against the Saxons. The Doctor must foil

the Monk's interference and ensure the historical

timeline remains relatively unchanged, all while

dealing with anachronisms caused by the Monk's meddling.

Review

Strengths:

Introduction of the Meddling Monk: This serial introduces

the Monk, a time-traveling renegade who becomes a recurring

foe of the Doctor. He presents an interesting contrast

to the Doctor, willing to alter history for his own gain.

Focus on Historical Preservation: The story highlights

the importance of preserving the flow of time

and the unintended consequences of historical manipulation.

Early Exploration of Time Travel Dilemmas: "The Time Meddler"

touches upon the ethical dilemmas of time travel

and the Doctor's responsibility to safeguard history.

Weaknesses:

Limited Special Effects: The special effects used for the Monk

and certain historical elements might seem primitive

by modern standards.

Slow Pacing in Parts: The narrative can feel slow at times,

especially during exposition scenes explaining the Monk's

motivations and the historical context.

Repetitive Nature of the Conflict: The Doctor and the Monk

essentially play a game of cat and mouse throughout

the serial, which might feel repetitive for some viewers.

Reception:

Positive: Praised for its introduction of the Meddling

Monk, focus on historical preservation, and early

exploration of time travel dilemmas. Some fans

also enjoy the contrast between the Doctor and the Monk.

Negative: Criticized for its limited special effects,

slow pacing in certain sections, and somewhat

repetitive nature of the Doctor versus the Monk conflict.

Overall Thoughts:

"The Time Meddler" offers an interesting introduction

to a recurring villain and explores the concept

of responsible time travel. While the pacing might

be slow for modern viewers, it provides a glimpse

into the development of Doctor Who's lore

and the challenges of maintaining the timeline.

Would I recommend watching it?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 6/10

(Especially those interested in the show's

recurring villains and exploration of time travel consequences)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 4/10

If you're a die-hard fan of classic Doctor Who

and enjoy the introduction of new adversaries,

"The Time Meddler" might be worth checking out.

However, if you prefer fast-paced adventures with

cutting-edge special effects, you might find it

dated and less engaging.

Additional Points to Consider:

The Meddling Monk would go on to appear in a few other

classic Doctor Who stories, becoming a foil to the Doctor's morality.

If you enjoy "The Time Meddler" and find the concept

where the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe find a world reliant

on the T-Mat, a teleportation system. The introduction

of the T-Mat system and the mystery surrounding

its malfunctioning set a promising stage for the story. Rating: 7/10

Episode 2: The tension escalates as it's revealed that

the Ice Warriors are behind the disruption of the T-Mat system.

The Ice Warriors' presence adds an element of danger

and urgency to the story. Rating: 7/10

Episode 3: The Doctor and his companions, along with

the Earth crew, attempt to stop the Ice Warriors' takeover.

The suspense builds as they face various challenges,

including sabotage and attacks by the Ice Warriors. Rating: 7/10

Episode 4: The climax of the story sees the Doctor devising a plan

to defeat the Ice Warriors and save Earth. The action sequences

are engaging, and the resolution is satisfying. Rating: 8/10

with a compelling storyline, memorable villains in the form

of the Ice Warriors, and strong performances from the cast,

24 (Ge 46:10) The sons of Simeon were

Hammuel his son, Zakkur his son, and Shimei his son.

27 (Nu 2:4; 2:13) Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters,

but his brothers did not have many sons, nor did all their family

multiply as much as the sons of Judah.

28 (Jos 19:2-3) Now they dwelt in Beersheba, Moladah, and Hazar Shual

29 (Jos 19:3,4) as well as in Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,

31 (Jos 19:5-6) Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susim, Beth Biri, and Shaaraim.

These were their cities until the reign of David.

32 Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Token, and Ashan,

five cities in all,

33 (Jos 19:8) and all the villages that were around these cities

as far as Baal.

Such are their inhabited cities, and those registered to them were

34 Meshobab, Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah;

35 Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel;

36 Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah;

37 Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah,

the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.

38 These mentioned by name were leaders in their families,

and their fathers' houses increased greatly.

39 (Jos 15:58; 1Ch 4:4) They went to the entrance of Gedor,

as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks

40 (Jdg 18:7-10) There they found rich, good pasture,

and the land was wide, quiet, and peaceful;

for former inhabitants there belonged to Ham.

41 In the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, those written by name came

and attacked their tents, along with the Meunites who were found there,

and utterly destroyed them until this day. Then they dwelt there

in their place because there was pasture for their flocks there.

42 (Ge 36:8-9) Now some of them, namely five hundred men

from the sons of Simeon, went to Mount Seir with Pelatiah,

Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, as their captains.

43 (1Sa 30:17; 15:7-8) Then they struck down the rest of the Amalekites

who had escaped. So they have dwelt there until this day.

[24] The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:

[25] Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

[26] And the sons of Mishma; Hamuel his son, Zachur his son, Shimei his son.

[27] And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not

many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children

of Judah.

[28] And they dwelt at Beer-sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-shual,

[29] And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

[30] And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

[31] And at Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susim, and at Beth-birei, and at

Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.

[32] And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan,

five cities:

[33] And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto

Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.

[34] And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,

[35] And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of

Asiel,

[36] And Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and

Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

[37] And Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the

son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;

[38] These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the

house of their fathers increased greatly.

[39] And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the

valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

[40] And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet,

and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.

[41] And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah,

and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and

destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because

there was pasture there for their flocks.

[42] And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to

mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah,

and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

[43] And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt

there unto this day.

10 Now in the days of Saul, they made war with the Hagrites,

generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

[8] And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt

in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-meon:

[9] And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from

the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of

Gilead.

[10] And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by

their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of

Gilead.

Sons of Gad

11 (Jos 13:11; 13:24-28) The sons of Gad dwelt opposite

them in the land of Bashan as far as Salekah.

12 Joel was the first, Shapham the second,

with Janai and Shaphat in Bashan.

13 Their brothers of their father's house were

Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jakan, Zia, and Eber, seven in all.

14 These are the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah,

the sonof Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai,

the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;

15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni,

was the head of their father's house.

16 (1Ch 27:29; SS 2:1) They dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns,

and in all the outlands of Sharon to the edge of their borders.

17 (2Ki 14:16; 14:28) All of them were registered by genealogy in the days

of Jotham king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

18 (Nu 1:3) The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites,

and the half-tribe of Manasseh numbered 44760 valiant men,

men able to bear shield and sword, to shoot with a bow,

and who were skillful in battle, who went to war.

19 (Ge 25:15; 1Ch 1:31) They made war with the Hagrites, namely Jetur,

Naphish, and Nodab.

20 (2Ch 18:31; Ps 20:7-8) They were helped against them,

and the Hagrites and all who were with them were delivered into their hand,

for they cried to God in the battle, and He heard their prayer

because they trusted in Him.

21 They captured their livestock: fifty thousand of their camels,

two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, two thousand donkeys,

and one hundred thousand men.

22 (2Ki 15:29; 17:6) So many fell slain, because the war was of God.

And they dwelt in their place until the exile.

[11] And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan

unto Salchah:

[12] Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in

Bashan.

[13] And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and

Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

[14] These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah,

the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of

Jahdo, the son of Buz;

[15] Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their

fathers.

[16] And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the

suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.

[17] All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of

Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

[18] The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of

valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and

skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore,

that went out to the war.

[19] And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and

Nodab.

[20] And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered

into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the

battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

[21] And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of

sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men

an hundred thousand.

[22] For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they

dwelt in their steads until the captivity.

The Half-Tribe of Manasseh

23 (Dt 3:8-9; SS 4:8) The children of the half-tribe of Manasseh also dwelt

in the land. They increased from Bashan as far as Baal Hermon and Senir,

even to Mount Hermon.

24 These were the heads of their fathers' houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel,

Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, men of reputation,

and heads of their fathers' houses.

25 (Ex 34:15) They were unfaithful to the God of their fathers

and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land,

whom God had wiped out before them.

26 (2Ki 15:19; 17:6) So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul

the king of Assyria, even the spirit of Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria,

and he led the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh

into exile and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan

to this day.

[23] And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they

increased from Bashan unto Baal-hermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.

[24] And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and

Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty

men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.

[25] And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a

whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before

them.

[26] And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and

the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away,

even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and

brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto

this day.

Jesus—The True Peacemaker

John 16:25-33

I Have Overcome the World

25 (Jn 16:2) "I have told you these things in proverbs. But the time is coming

when I will no longer speak to you in proverbs, for I will speak to you

plainly about the Father.

26 On that day you will ask in My name. I am not saying to you that

I shall ask the Father on your behalf.

27 (Jn 14:21; 14:23) For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved

Me, and have believed that I came from God.

28 (Jn 13:3; 8:14) I came from the Father and have come into the world.

As I said, I am leaving the world and am going to the Father."

29 (Jn 16:25) His disciples said to Him, "Yes! Now You are speaking plainly

and with no figure of speech.

30 (Jn 21:17) Now we know that You know everything and do not need anyone

to question You. By this we believe that You came from God."

31 Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?

32 (Mt 26:31; Jn 8:29) Listen, the hour is coming. Yes, it has now come that

you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave Me alone.

Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with Me.

33 (Jn 14:27; 1Jn 4:4; Jn 14:1) "I have told you these things so that in Me

you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good

cheer. I have overcome the world."

[25] These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh,

when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you

plainly of the Father.

[26] At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I

will pray the Father for you:

[27] For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have

believed that I came out from God.

[28] I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I

leave the world, and go to the Father.

[29] His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and

speakest no proverb.

[30] Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any

man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

[31] Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

[32] Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered,

every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone,

because the Father is with me.

[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In

the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome

the world.

On December 30, 1862, the US Civil War raged. Union and Confederate troops

camped seven hundred yards apart on opposing sides of Tennessee's Stones

River. As they warmed themselves around campfires, Union soldiers picked

up their fiddles and harmonicas and began playing "Yankee Doodle."

In reply, the Confederate soldiers offered "Dixie." Remarkably, both sides

joined for a finale, playing "Home, Sweet Home" in unison. Sworn enemies

shared music in the dark night, glimmers of an unimagined peace.

The melodic truce was short-lived, however.

The next morning, they put down their fiddles and picked up their rifles,

and 24645 soldiers died.

Our human efforts to create peace inevitably wear thin. Hostilities cease

in one place, only to ignite somewhere else. One relational dispute finds

harmony, only to be embroiled in distress again months later.

The Scriptures tell us that God is our only trustworthy peacemaker.

Jesus said it plainly, "in me ye might have peace" (John 16:33).

We have peace in Jesus. While we participate in His peacemaking mission,

it's God's reconciliation and renewal that make real peace possible.

Christ tells us we can’t escape conflict. "In this world [we] will have

trouble," Jesus says. Strife abounds. "But take heart!" He adds,

"I have overcome the world" (v. 33).

While our efforts often prove futile, our loving God (v. 27)

makes peace in this fractious world.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 3 - The Promise of Completion

Philippians 1:6

6 (1Co 1:8; Jn 6:29) I am confident of this very thing,

that He who began a good work in you will perfect it

until the day of Jesus Christ.

6 being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun

a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

"Elizabeth is a good student", the note on the side of the report card read,

"but she doesn't finish what she starts. She has a lot of good ideas, but

rarely brings then to completion."

Many of us are like Elizabeth. We start into a new venture with high hopes

and great motivation. But somewhere along the way, we become discouraged.

Someone tells us that our ideas are stupid, or that we are not capable of

doing what we dream. We get a particularly difficult hurdle and give up.

Sometimes we fell the Christian like is like that, too. We start well, and

believe that in Christ we can accomplish anything. But then our prayers

become rote, our Bible reading ritual. We can't seem to regain that sense

of God's presence; we have, we conclude, "Lost our first love." (Rev 2)

But God has a different perspective. He began the work of salvation in us;

he leads and guides us in his will, and he will complete what he has begun.

Often we fail to see God's grace in the ongoing process of walking with him

because his agenda is different from ours. We know what we want to see

happen in our lives; God knows what needs to happen.

"When I first came into a relationship with Christ," one woman explained,

"I knew I had a lot of changing to do. But, strangely enough, the things God

changed weren't on my list at all!"

When God begins his work in our lives, he has a plan for our maturity.

He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. And what God

has begun, he will finish.

Application

a) Have I ever tried to "decide" for God what problems in my life

needed dealing with?

b) Has God ever pointed out issues that were a surprise to me?

c) How can today's verse help me relax in God's will and

have confidence in the direction of my life?

Proverbs 10:22

22 The blessing of the Lord makes rich ,and He adds no sorrow with it.

22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich,

And he addeth no sorrow with it.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Saddened by Loss

1 Cor 15:35-38,51-57

35 But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up?

With what body do they come?"

36 You fool! What you sow is not made alive unless it dies.

37 When you sow, you do not sow the body that shall be, but a bare kernel,

perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.

38 Then God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall

all be changed.

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet,

for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible,

and we shall be changed.

53 For tis corruptible will put on incorruption,

and this mortal will put on immortality.

54 When this corruptible will have put on incorruption,

and this mortal will have put on immortality,

then the saying that is written shall come to pass:

"Death is swallowed up in victory."

55 "O death, where is your sting?

O grave, where is your victory?"

56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through

our Lord Jesus Christ!

35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up?

and with what body do they come?

36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be,

but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

38 but God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him,

and to every seed his own body.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall

all be changed,

52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:

for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,

and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption,

and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,

and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought

to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through

our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Google Gemini reviews Doctor Who - The Chase

Doctor Who: The Chase - A Dalek Extravaganza

"The Chase" is a classic Doctor Who adventure from 1965,

part of the Second Doctor's regeneration cycle.

It holds a special place in the show's history

for bringing back the iconic villains, the Daleks.

Here's a breakdown to help you decide if you'd like

to join this thrilling chase through time and space:

Story

The Doctor and his companions, Barbara and Ian,

land on the desert planet Aridius. While exploring,

they encounter the peaceful Aridians under

threat of Dalek invasion. It turns out the

Daleks have constructed their own time machine

and are determined to exterminate the Doctor

throughout history. The narrative follows

the Doctor, Barbara, and Ian on

a desperate chase through various

time periods and locations like

the Empire State Building, the Mary Celeste,

and even a haunted house,

all while being pursued by the ruthless Daleks.

Review

Strengths:

Iconic Dalek Story: "The Chase" is considered

one of the best Dalek stories ever written.

It showcases their intelligence, ruthlessness,

and vulnerability in a high-stakes chase across time.

High-Concept Premise: The idea of the Daleks hunting

the Doctor through various points in history is inventive

and keeps the narrative engaging.

Companion Performances: Barbara and Ian play pivotal

roles in helping the Doctor throughout the chase,

showcasing their courage and resourcefulness.

Weaknesses:

Dated Special Effects: While groundbreaking for its time,

the special effects used for the Daleks

and the various historical settings might seem primitive

by modern standards.

Repetitive Dialogue: The Daleks' catchphrases ("Exterminate!")

might become repetitive for some viewers after a while.

Uneven Pacing at Times: The story switches between

different time periods quickly, which can disrupt

the flow for some viewers.

Reception:

Positive: Praised for its iconic status, high-concept

premise, memorable chase sequence, and strong companion

performances. This serial solidified the Daleks

as the Doctor's arch-nemesis.

Negative: Criticized for its dated special effects,

repetitive dialogue from the Daleks,

and uneven pacing as the narrative jumps between time periods.

Overall Thoughts:

"The Chase" is a landmark serial in Doctor Who history.

While the production values might not hold up entirely today,

it offers a thrilling adventure and an important chapter

in the ongoing conflict between the Doctor and the Daleks.

Would I recommend watching it?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 8/10 (A must-watch

for understanding the significance of the Daleks

and appreciating the Second Doctor's era)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 6/10 (It might be enjoyable

for its historical setting hopping and iconic villain focus,

but be prepared for the limitations of classic Doctor Who production)

Additional Points to Consider:

This serial introduced the Daleks' iconic battle cry "Exterminate!"

which has become synonymous with the show and the Daleks themselves.

If you enjoy "The Chase" and find yourself intrigued by the Daleks,

ChatGPT reviews Doctor Who - The Krotons

"The Krotons" is a Doctor Who serial from the Patrick Troughton era,

originally broadcast in 1968-1969. Here's a review and rating for

each part of the serial:

Episode 1: The TARDIS lands on the planet of the Gonds,

where the Doctor and his companions discover a society

oppressed by the mysterious Krotons. The introduction

effectively sets up the premise, but the pacing is somewhat

slow. Rating: 6/10

Episode 2: The Doctor and his companions learn more about

the Krotons' control over the Gonds and begin to uncover

the truth behind their power. The tension starts to build,

but the story feels somewhat repetitive. Rating: 6/10

Episode 3: The Doctor and his companions confront the Krotons

directly, leading to some exciting moments as the mystery

surrounding them deepens. However, the pacing remains uneven,

and some scenes feel drawn out. Rating: 6/10

Episode 4: The climax of the story sees the Doctor

and his allies devising a plan to defeat the Krotons

and free the Gonds from their oppression. The resolution

is satisfying, though it feels somewhat rushed. Rating: 6/10

Overall, "The Krotons" is a somewhat average Doctor Who serial

with an interesting premise but execution that falls short

in several aspects. While it has its moments, particularly

in the exploration of the Krotons' technology and motives,

the pacing issues and repetitive plot elements detract

from its overall quality. Overall Rating: 6/10
